The copy feature duplicates the names and storage locations of the selected data items to the Windows clipboard. This feature does not copy the actual data items to the clipboard—it only copies references to the items.
If the Paste feature is then used, the system returns to the original storage location and copies the data items from that point.
If data items are copied to the clipboard and deleted from the storage location prior to pasting, the system will not be able to perform the paste. Deleting the items prior to pasting also deletes the references to those items in the clipboard.
